Sport massage therapy is targeted towards individuals who regularly participate in athletically based activities including challenging fitness programs or competitive and novice sporting events.
Sports massage therapy is a collective term for pre-event, post-event, and restorative massage therapy. Though we are versed at all types of sports massage therapy at BodyWorks, in-studio we focus on post-event and restorative massage therapy.
Post-Event Sports Massage Therapy
Post-event sports massage therapy would be scheduled within 24-48 hours of a highly stressful, competitive event. Such events could include endurance events like Marathons, Triathlons, Ironman competitions, and Cycling events. Post-event sports massage therapy is also beneficial for other highly stressful events such as team or individual tournament events or even a long skiing weekend or hiking trip.
Restorative Sports Massage Therapy
Restorative sports massage therapy is targeted more towards ongoing repair of the muscular structures during training or more than 48 hours after a highly stressful or competitive event. Most athletes see improved performance, reduction in injury and enhanced muscular abilities from seeking restorative sports massage therapy throughout their regular training program and as part of their event preparation.
